My aim is to walk from St Bees on the Irish Sea to Robin Hood's Bay on the North Sea in 2 weeks covering 192 miles. The route follows approximately the route devised and made famous by Alfred Wainwright and travels through three National Parks, the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales and the North York Moors.

Just under 3 weeks to go until the start
Introducing my boots that I am hoping to take me all the way from the West to the East coast of the northern UK.
They started off being really good friends and turned out to be my perfect Valentine as on Valentine's day they got their first long outing, 15 miles with no pain or blisters. I loved them.
But recently they have started playing me up and it's sometimes hit or miss if they behave themselves on my training walks. I have invested in the proper socks, wearing 2 layers at a time and have been asking anyone who has any experience of long distance walking for secrets of their foot strategies.
Tomorrow I am going to Boots to buy up the complete shelf of Compeed plasters as I'm not going to take any chances on this. Compeed is going to be my saviour unless anyone has any other ideas.
Now, regarding training for this epic walk, I have been trying to fit in various long walks on various terrain and a few weeks ago I managed 2 walks in the Yorkshire Dales.
See below
Craig was itching for a "You've been framed" moment but unfortunately for him I managed those stepping stones without falling in and taking my boots for their first ever dunking.
Those Yorkshire hills were challenging as it's so flat here in West London I've not done much hill training. I huffed and puffed a bit but tried not to let anyone notice. I'm just going to have to smile and keep stopping to admire the views on my ascents to secretly get my breath back.
I have most of my equipment I need but still missing the all important rain jacket and glorious, super stylish waterproof trousers which I am hoping I will not be needing.
Anyway this is my first ever blog post so I am hoping it downloads.
This will be my first of many I hope.
